'A Guest Sermon' by Brother Muralee who is serves as a pastor and elder in his church and is involved in the church planing ministry. He has been in the Gospel for over 35 years.

He is our dear brother and friend in the Lord. We were glad that he was able to visit us briefly while he travels abroad. 

The sermon is based on 1 Samuel 30:1-21 with an emphasis on verse number 6.

1 Samuel 30:6 - "And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God."

Spiritual Depression - Our Fight For Joy

 

We may think that following Jesus is easy, but it is not. When we follow the Lord, we face the ideology, lies, and mockery of the world. There comes a new friction that we might not have anticipated in our lives. Following Jesus comes with a great cost. Sometimes, though, we may even wonder whether it is all worth it? Sometimes, we feel the pressure from the world to go back to it.

What should we do in light of these questions? Do we follow the world or do we persevere in our walk with the Lord?

Why did the disciple become fearful? Where was there faith when the big waves crashing into the boat? Why did Jesus rebuke them by saying that they lacked faith? 

Let’s find out. 

We too may lack faith at times. But the Lord Jesus tells us to be faithful in spite of challenging circumstances.

Understanding the doctrine of Justification by Fatih is important. It is one of the the cures of our unhappiness as Christians.

Part 1 - Spiritual Depression - Our Fight for Joy - "Spiritual Depression"

For the next few weeks we are going to be exploring the theme of Joy on Sunday mornings at Grace Church Southall (www.gcsouthall.org.uk)

I have been reading the book "Spiritual Depression" written by late Dr Martin Llyod Jones to understand the cause of spiritual joylessness and how to rediscover the joy of the Christian life. 

I have prayerfully selected a few chapters to tackle the issue at hand. Because I have found (even in my own life) at times a lack of joy among christians. 

What are the cause and cures of our lack of joy? We explore Psalm 42 and 43 today.

Psalm 42:11 - "Why are you cast down, O my soul,
    and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
    my salvation and my God."

A short devotion that I led at church from John 3:1-15 as we tend to get unbelievers attending our fellowship time to time. 

We preach about the new birth because Jesus tells us to do so.
